Why should you join Community Lunch?
Community Lunch is a great way to get involved in the community. It is also a great way to meet new people who share the same interests in pursuing community service. Our location is very close to Columbia. Plus, our volunteers always have fun!
Where is Community Lunch?
Community Lunch is located across from Lerner Hall at Columbia University. Our kitchen is in Broadway Presbyterian Church at the corner of 114th Street and Broadway.
When does Community Lunch happen?
Community Lunch meets every Friday from 10:00am to about 2:00pm. Cooking typically takes place between 10:00am and 12:00pm while serving and clean-up usually happens between 12:00pm and 2:00pm. Volunteers are encouraged to come whenever they can, even if it is not for the entire time.
Does Community Lunch do any other activities or programs?
Yes! Every year, Community Lunch holds a Halloween Party and a Holiday Party where we invite families from the community to enjoy an afternoon at the Broadway Presbyterian Church. Approximately 70 kids and their families attend each party. We serve dinner at each party and have many fun activities for the kids ranging from cupcake decorating to face painting. We always have a great time!
